Designed for powerboats, the Reactor 40 hydraulic autopilot acts as your right hand, allowing you to focus on enjoying boating.
- This Reactor 40 basic package is the perfect companion for a hydraulically controlled system.
- It has a built-in 9-axis AHRS, so it can be mounted almost anywhere.
- This autopilot keeps you on course even in rough seas by reacting to sea conditions.
- Calibration is quick and easy. That's what The Power of Simple is all about.
- You can control autopilot from anywhere on your boat, in conjunction with a compatible Garmin chartplotter.
Basic package compatibility:
This basic package is ideal for all types of hydraulically steered powerboats (inboard and outboard, sterndrive and diesel engines) and hydraulically steered sailboats. Requires a compatible Garmin chartplotter or GHC 50 autopilot. Hydraulic pump not included; a variety of pump options are available depending on the hydraulic steering of your boat.
Fixed 9-axis AHRS
With its advanced fixed 9-axis AHRS system, the Reactor 40 can be mounted in almost any location or orientation, while also reducing power consumption and heading errors.
React to circumstances
Autopilot reacts to conditions, so you can rely on stable steering in all conditions.
Easy calibration:
All autopilots require configuration and calibration, and with Reactor 40, it's quick and easy.
Wireless remote control:
You can control autopilot from anywhere on your boat with compatible Garmin devices, such as the Reactor autopilot remote and select quatic® marine smartwatches.
Shadow Drive technology:
You can control your boat with even more freedom. With this basic package, optional Shadow Drive technology automatically disengages the autopilot when the helm is turned.
Motorboat and sailing characteristics:
When paired with a compatible Garmin chartplotter, all Reactor 40 base packages offer powerboating and sailing features like heading hold and step-by-step turns, and when paired with a wind sensor (sold separately), wind hold and tack/gybe. You can also track your course and use Auto Guidance+™ features, among other things. Auto Guidance is intended for planning purposes only and is not a substitute for safe navigation.

Enjoy your time on the water while the Reactor 40 keeps you on course
Designed specifically for boats under 25 feet, the Reactor 40 is the perfect autopilot solution for outboard boats and sailboats. It frees your hands from the steering wheel and provides added safety, especially at medium and high speeds.
With its advanced 9-axis AHRS (Advanced Heading Reference System) technology, the Reactor 40 can be mounted in almost any orientation. It minimizes energy consumption, reduces heading errors, and provides a smoother driving experience. Whether your boat is rocking or sliding, the Reactor 40 responds to sea conditions and keeps you on course.
Reactor 40 is easy to install with a variety of mounting options, requiring minimal time and effort.
You can control your autopilot from anywhere on your boat with Garmin wireless remote control capabilities. Compatible Garmin devices, such as the Reactor autopilot remote or select quatix® smartwatches, give you full control of your autopilot (requires compatible Garmin chartplotter or GHC 50 autopilot display).
Shadow Drive™ technology gives you even more freedom when steering your boat. This system automatically disengages the autopilot when you turn the steering wheel, giving you maximum control.
Garmin's GHC 50 package also includes a full-featured touchscreen autopilot display for the helm. The Reactor 40 autopilot and GHC 50 allow you to share data and settings with other Garmin MFDs.
Whether you're powerboating or sailing, the Reactor 40 system has everything you need. Pair it with a compatible Garmin chartplotter for features like course hold, gradual turns, fixed wind angle, and gybe/tackle (requires separate wind sensor). You can also benefit from route tracking and Auto Guidance+ for smoother sailing.
