The starter relay, also called a solenoid, is used on many Mercury 2-stroke engines rated at 75 hp or more. It is suitable for engines with a carburetor, EFI or DFI Optimax fuel system.
If you are having trouble with your starter motor, this relay could be one possible cause. Check the OEM number of your current relay to ensure compatibility. The number may be located on the back of the relay, in which case you will need to remove the relay to check it.
The relay's OEM number is 817109A2 , and it also replaces the previous OEM number 817109A1 .
Alternatively, if you have an EFI or DFI Optimax engine over 175 hp, an alternative part is also available, part number 82150 .
