482 PROPELLER ANODE FOR MAX PROP

Zinc anode protects the boat hulls steel and other metal parts against corrosion. The anode is installed below water line into positions which need protection. Electrochemical corrosion is caused by different metals being in connection with each other through water in which case they form a sort of a battery type circuit. Metals act as the poles of the battery and salt water connects the poles. In such cases the less noble of the metals will always corrode. Zinc is less noble compared to iron, stainless steel, copper, brass etc.

Zinc anodes need to be inspected during every lift of the boat from sea and they need to be changed immediately when wear is observed. Zinc anodes are installed longitudinally onto the metal parts which need protection. Zinc anodes should never be covered with paints etc. Axle anodes are installed onto the axle as close to the axle support as possible.
