It has a high IP rating, meaning it can withstand rain, debris and dust with the cover closed. This means you can keep it on the flybridge, on the helm console or even on your motorcycle or snowmobile.
A standard USB port usually has 1A + 2.1A. Our USB connector has a maximum output current of 5A, regardless of whether you use both connectors or just one.
A common question is 'my mobile phone is designed to charge at 1A, so I can't use your 5A sockets'.
Of course you can. A mobile phone, tablet, etc. only uses as much power as it is designed to. So if it is designed to charge at 1A, it will only accept 1A. The advantage is that you can charge devices that can draw more power during charging faster. Examples include flashlights and Bluetooth speakers.
The new design makes installation easier, especially in tight spaces. The nut has 'barbs', which means it can be tightened with a standard screwdriver if it is difficult to reach by hand.
