Tef-Gel works by preventing the corrosion of various metals by preventing electrolytes from entering between metal surfaces. Tef-Gel paste contains 40% PTFE powder and 0% volatile solvents, no silicones or oil-based solvents that evaporate and leave voids where electrolytes could be absorbed and thus form a galvanic cell. When both surfaces are coated and joined with Tef-Gel, there are no voids where electrolytes (salt water) could be absorbed by capillary action over long periods of time.
