The biggest advantage of an inflatable kayak — easy transport and storage — also means that you need to maintain and repair your kayak more often than a regular hard-shell kayak. A patch kit with glue is useful to keep with you on trips in case of small holes or scratches, so that your kayaking trip is not interrupted by a minor damage. Replacement parts for the valve and inner sole significantly extend the life of the kayak, as worn parts can be replaced without replacing the entire kayak.

Before ordering, it is worth confirming the exact version of your kayak model (for example, AdvancedFrame 1, AdvancedFrame 2 Convertible or Island Voyage 2), as spare parts are designed for each model and generation, and not all parts are compatible with each other.

When choosing a spare part for an inflatable kayak, accurate model identification is essential, as the Advanced Elements range has evolved over the years through several generations, and for example, the parts of the AdvancedFrame 1 and AdvancedFrame 2 Convertible are not always interchangeable. It is always a good idea to test the adhesive from the patch kit on a small, inconspicuous area before the actual repair to ensure that the adhesive adheres to the material of the kayak in question — hulls of different ages and generations may use slightly different PVC or other materials. It is a good idea to carry out the repair in a dry, warm area, as cold and humidity significantly weaken the adhesive's adhesion and can cause the repair to fail the first time it is used. It is recommended to replace the valve as soon as you notice that air is slowly escaping from the kayak without a visible hole, as a worn valve is a more common cause of slow air loss than a small, hard-to-find hole in the hull. It is recommended to carry a spare fin with you on trips, as the fin is one of the parts of the kayak that is most susceptible to damage when hitting shallow water or rocks.

After installing the replaced part, it is always a good idea to test the kayak on the beach before the actual trip to ensure the tightness of the repair is safely ensured.
