Anchor accessories

In the Anchor Accessories range you will find the accessories needed for handling the chain and anchor. The Wichard anchor chain holder (10 mm) locks the chain in place in the anchor housing, the anchor loop for the halyard guides the rope and chain connection neatly through the anchor housing, and the MultiMarine chain holder (6–8 mm) offers an alternative fastening method. The anchor chain holder is an important safety device that prevents the chain from slipping completely out of the anchor housing in a sudden jerk — without the holder, the entire chain and anchor can, in the worst case, be lost in the water. The anchor lever, on the other hand, guides the rope or chain at the right angle when raising and lowering the anchor, which reduces wear and makes manual lifting easier.

The anchor davit keeps the heavier anchor neatly in place at the bow during the voyage without it rattling against the hull, and the locking fitting ensures that the anchor cannot come loose from its holder in waves. It is worth choosing the dimensions of the accessories according to the weight of your own anchor and the thickness of the chain/rope.

It is worth checking the anchor chain holder attachment regularly, as it is a critical safety component — failure of the holder in a sudden jerk can lead to the entire anchor and chain being lost in the water, which is not only expensive but also difficult to replace in the middle of the sailing season. The choice of anchor winch size (5–15 kg or 10–20 kg) should be made according to the weight of your anchor, not directly according to the size of the boat — a lighter anchor in a larger boat does not need as sturdy a winch as a heavier anchor in a boat of the same size. Using an anchor winch significantly reduces the rattle caused by the anchor and possible damage to the hull during lifting and lowering, which is especially important for boaters anchoring at night, for whom silence is part of a comfortable night's sleep. A locking fitting for the bow plane ensures that the anchor cannot come loose from its holder in rough seas during the voyage — this is especially important on longer voyages where the anchor is attached for several hours without constant supervision.

The stainless steel material of anchor accessories is highly resistant to seawater, but moving parts should still be lubricated regularly to ensure smooth operation.

Regular inspection of accessories as part of other boat maintenance prevents unexpected problems during anchoring.
