In the Gas Stoves and Ovens section, you will find gas-powered cooking appliances suitable for boats and cottages: Rand's combination stove, induction stove for 220V use, Ocean Comfort gas stoves with oven in 45 and 50 cm sizes, and ENO's Duo gas stove and 2-burner tabletop model with electric ignition.

How do you choose the right stove for your boat kitchen?

A gas stove is a popular choice for boaters because the gas cylinder operates independently without dependence on a generator or shore power, and it is easy to precisely adjust the flame power while cooking. A model with an oven, such as the Ocean Comfort, also allows for baking and roasting in addition to just cooking, which significantly expands the possibilities on longer trips or during the cottage season.

An induction cooker, on the other hand, requires sufficient electrical power to operate – a 220-volt connection usually means shore power or a sufficiently powerful inverter from the boat's battery, so it is best suited to boats or cottages where the electricity supply is already well organized. The advantage of induction is fast heating and safety, as the hob itself does not heat up as much as an open flame.

When choosing a size (for example 45 or 50 cm), it is worth considering the size of the kitchen space and how many people typically prepare food - a larger stove provides more working space but also takes up more cabinet or countertop space in a small boat kitchen. A 2-burner tabletop model is well suited for a smaller boat or as an additional stove alongside a larger stove.

When installing and using gas appliances, strict safety instructions must always be followed – the gas cylinder should be located in a ventilated area and gas hoses/connections should be checked regularly for leaks using a soapy water test. Electric ignition is a handy feature that makes lighting easier, especially in cold weather or with wet hands.

It is worth checking the size and type of gas cylinder before purchasing a stove – different stove models may require a different regulator or hose connection depending on whether you are using a small camping gas cylinder or a larger gas cylinder permanently installed on the boat. The most commonly used gas in Finland is propane, which also works well in colder weather, unlike butane, which loses its ability to evaporate in frost.

It is always a good idea to install a new stove according to the manufacturer's instructions, at a sufficient distance from flammable materials, and after installation, the entire gas system should be checked by a professional before first use to ensure safety.

Clean the stove regularly to remove food residue and grease, as a dirty burner can affect the evenness of the flame and increase the risk of carbon monoxide formation in a closed space.
