The Hammar H20 hydrostatic release is designed for liferafts with a capacity of 6 to 150 people. The H20 release consists of a double loop made of white rope, a release mechanism and a red breaking link (breaking strength 2.2+- 0.4 kN). For smaller liferafts (from 4 people and non-SOLAS rafts) we recommend the Hammar Small Rafts model with a special breaking link and is identified by the green color of the lower leg (breaking strength 1.2+- 0.4 kN). The white strong rope of the Hammar H20 is secured to the deck or liferaft rack and attached to the liferaft mooring line with a hand release hook. If the boat sinks, the water pressure activates a sharp knife at a depth of at least 4 meters, which cuts the white strong rope and the raft can float freely. As the ship sinks, the liferaft's launch rope tightens and the liferaft begins to inflate. The Red Weak Link TM breaks and those in distress can climb onto the floating raft. The Hammar H20 does not require annual service, maintenance or spare parts, but IT MUST BE REPLACED AFTER 2 YEARS OF INSTALLATION ON THE SHIP.
VALIDITY MARKING INSTRUCTIONS:
The shelf life is two years from installation on deck. The trigger is fitted with a label with squares indicating the year and month. Carefully scrape off the expiry date with a knife, starting from the date of purchase. A hydrostatic trigger that is not properly marked with the expiry date is not approved by the maritime authority. Each Hammar H20 has its own serial number.
INSTALLATION:
Check that the release date is correctly marked - 2 years from installation on board. 1) Secure the Hammar H20 with a shackle to a strong point on the deck or to the liferaft rack 2) Attach the liferaft lashing strap to the upper yellow rope loop on the hand launch hawser and tighten the raft firmly in place 3) Attach the shackle to the red breakaway link (The Red Weak Link TM) and attach the launch rope to the shackle.
MANUAL RELEASE:
If the liferaft is to be launched manually, the manual release hook must first be released and then the liferaft is thrown from the ship into the water. The liferaft is now secured to the ship by a launching rope attached to the red weak link (The Red Weak Link TM). By pulling the launching rope, the liferaft is inflated and ready for crewing. The patented manual release hook is easy to release, even under heavy lashing loads, with just one hand.
APPROVALS:
The Hammar H20 hydrostatic release is approved worldwide, meets the requirements of the SOLAS 74 Convention, IMO Res. MSC 97(73)8. 1/8.6 (2000 HSC Code), IMO Res. MSC. 48 (66), IMO Res. MSC. 81 (70), IMO MSC/Circ. 811 and is approved under the EU Marine Equipment Directive 96/98 EC and has a NATO stock number. Release depth 1.5 - 4.0 meters according to IMO/SOLAS regulations.
