Locking the boat:
To deter theft, it is important to take appropriate security measures for your boat and its equipment. If your boat weighs less than 200 kg, it must be locked with an approved chain and a lock of at least class 2. Boats weighing more than 200 kg must be locked with an approved chain and a lock of at least class 3. The bow of the boat must be of the same class as the chain and lock.
The outboard motor must be locked with either an approved boat engine lock or a Class 3 lock and chain. Secure the boat to a fixed object, such as a dock or similar. For this purpose, you can, for example, wrap the chain around the dock and lock it to the bow. However, it is important not to lock the boat to a lightly removable dock ring or similar that can be easily broken.
If or when the boat is on a boat trailer, both the boat and engine must be locked, and the trailer must be locked with a certified towbar lock or a Class 3 lock and chain.

The chain guard protects gelcoat and painted surfaces from wear and abrasion that can occur from contact with bare lock chain. Supplied in 5 metre lengths and can be cut into shorter lengths if required, but the ends must be melted to prevent fraying. We always recommend replacing the chain guard when the old one is worn out.
