Oil filter, located in the line between the oil tank and the oil pump
It is located near the bottom of the oil tank. The filter is found on most Mercurys with DFI (called Optimax and Pro XS for example), as well as some older 2-strokes with EFI.
DFI stands for Direct Fuel Injection and EFI stands for Electric Fuel Injection. What both technologies have in common is that they replace the traditional carburetor. DFI is the most modern solution, where fuel is injected directly into the cylinder at very high pressure, this technology can be found in Optimax engines, among others. EFI came earlier and is more efficient than a carburetor, but mixes the fuel with the air before it reaches the cylinder. If you have an Optimax, you have a DFI engine, which is the most efficient solution for 2-stroke engines. Change the oil filter according to the recommendations given for your engine.
