The HX400 comes with a massive 2550 mAh lithium-ion battery that provides approximately 17 hours of talk time. You won't have to wait long to fully charge the large battery, as the HX400 comes with a 3-hour quick charger.
The HX400 is factory pre-programmed with all U.S., Canadian and international marine channels and NOAA weather channels. Additionally, 40 terrestrial radio channels (137-174 MHz) with CTCSS or DCS signaling can be programmed through your Standard Horizon dealer.
Note: Use of these channels requires an appropriate radio license.
The HX400 exceeds your expectations for voice transmission in noisy and windy conditions thanks to its built-in noise-canceling microphone. There is no need to purchase a separate voice encoder for secure communication, as the HX400's internal encoder is compatible with the four-code encoders on Standard Horizon VHF mounts and handheld VHF devices.
The HX400 is designed to be heard even in the noisiest environments: up to 700 mW of power is fed to the internal speaker.
An optional speaker microphone or headset is available for your communication needs.
The HX400 is shipped from the factory with the purpose descriptions for the marine channels (16: distress, 22A: USCG, 71: pleasure boating). The user can modify the channel names to clarify their purpose if desired.
The device comes pre-loaded with 10 NOAA and Canadian weather channels, easily selected with a dedicated WX button. In addition, the HX400 can continuously monitor these channels and provide an audible alert for upcoming storm warnings.
The user can set the HX400 to scan the channels they want arbitrarily, either with or without a priority channel, or set it to alternate between two channels when scanning (Dual Watch).
A dedicated Preset button lets you quickly program and select up to 10 favorite marine traffic or NOAA weather channels.
The display shows the battery charge as a bar graph, showing the charge level.
The HX400 is built to last, and will be repaired or replaced free of charge without any red tape or expense if it fails under normal use, including water damage, within the three-year warranty period. After the warranty, the device is covered by Standard Horizon’s lifetime fixed-price maintenance program.
