The Yamaha magnetic gearcase oil plug is a genuine drain and fill plug for the gearcase of many Yamaha outboards.

The magnet collects metal particles carried in the gearcase oil, so inspecting the plug at an oil change also tells you about the condition of the gearcase. The plug is used on many Yamaha engines and gearcases in the roughly 20–250 hp range, depending on model and year. The thread is M8 x 1.25.
