The cooling system of an inboard engine often includes both a seawater circuit and a closed glycol circuit, so maintaining the correct glycol to water ratio is important for frost resistance and corrosion protection. Anodes protect metal parts against galvanic corrosion in seawater and wear out with use - it is worth checking their condition regularly and replacing them before they are worn out, as a worn anode no longer protects other metal parts.
