In the side tapes product group, you will find decorative strip tapes that can be attached to the side of the frame in several colors and widths: 25mm/15m in dark blue, black, matte gold, white and blue, as well as a narrower 19mm/15m width in dark blue.
Side tape works in two ways: it gives the side of the boat's hull a clean, finished line, and at the same time it protects the hull surface from light abrasions at the dock or next to other boats — on many boats, side tape replaces traditional painted or engraved accent strips at a much lower cost and is easy to replace if necessary as the color fades over the years.
The width you choose will affect the final result: a 25mm width is more visible and suitable as an accent main color, while a narrower 19mm works as a more subtle, elegant detail or as the second stripe of a double strip. When choosing a color, it is worth considering the color of the frame itself — a contrasting color clearly emphasizes the line, while a close shade gives a more subtle, uniform look.
Successful installation requires a clean, grease-free surface and a consistent temperature at the time of installation — it is a good idea to heat the tape lightly, for example with a heat gun, at the bends so that it fits evenly to the curvature of the hull without wrinkles or air bubbles. Allow the tape to adhere carefully before launching the boat to ensure the best results and long life.
Avoid installing the tape in direct sunlight in hot weather, as the adhesive can set too quickly and cause wrinkles before you can properly position the tape. Clean the surface of the tape regularly with a mild detergent to maintain its beautiful color and shine throughout the season.
Consider using a professional installer if the frame has a lot of bends or complex shapes — a smooth, clean finish requires experience, especially on curved areas that require heat treatment and tape stretching.
Order a little extra tape just in case, especially for a longer frame — a little extra is better than an incomplete installation that forces you to wait for more tape in the middle of the job.
Compare the width of the side tape to the height and style of your hull — a wider strip will suit a larger boat better than a narrow, subtle strip.
Check the edges of the tape regularly for any loosening, and reattach any loosened areas immediately before the damage spreads.
Ask for advice on choosing the right color if the shade of your hull differs from the most common boat colors.
Compare the length of the tape roll to the size of the frame so that one roll is enough for the entire installation.
Compare the gloss level of the tape, as some models are matte and some are glossy for a more polished finish.
