Tapes
The Marine Store's diverse selection includes tapes for every boater. There are sailing tapes, self-vulcanizing tapes, anti-slip tapes, and many other repair tapes.
In the Tapes department you will find specialized boating tapes for various uses: sail tapes, anti-slip tapes, other tapes, self-vulcanizing tapes and side tapes. The selection includes, for example, Star Brite liquid electrical tape (in red and black, pourable/brushable sealant for electrical connections) and Dacron Insignia sailing tape 75mm wide in several colors for repairing and strengthening sails.
Marine tapes differ from regular construction tapes in their resistance to UV radiation, salt water and temperature changes – regular tape quickly peels off and becomes brittle when used outdoors at sea. Sail tape is designed to withstand the stress and stretching of sailcloth, while liquid electrical tape, when hardened, forms a completely waterproof, flexible protective layer around electrical connections better than traditional coil tape. Explore the subgroups to find the right tape for your application.
The applications of sail tape and liquid electrical tape are clearly different: sail tape is designed to withstand the stretching and strain of sail cloth in temporary or permanent repairs, while liquid electrical tape, when cured, forms a completely waterproof, flexible protective layer around electrical connections better than traditional coil tape in wet boating. Both are significantly more resistant to UV radiation and salt water than standard construction tapes.
