The seawater pump impeller is one of the most important parts of a Yamaha outboard that needs to be replaced regularly, as the rubber impeller hardens and cracks over time – a weakened impeller reduces cooling water flow and can lead to engine overheating, at worst in the middle of a ride.

Our range includes both genuine Yamaha impellers and compatible Quicksilver alternatives for several engine series with part numbers 63V-44352-01, 6H3-44352-00, 6H4-44352-02, 67F-44352-00, 682-44352-03, 688-44352-03, 689-44352-02 and 6CE-44352-00 – a wide range of part numbers covering practically the entire Yamaha outboard motor range, both current and older. Quicksilver is Mercury Marine's own spare parts brand, but also manufactures Yamaha-compatible parts, which are often a more affordable but still reliable alternative to the original.

The recommended replacement interval for the impeller is manufacturer-specific, but a general rule of thumb is to replace it every 100-300 hours of operation or at least every second or third season, depending on the operating conditions – driving in sandy or muddy water will wear out the impeller faster than in clean water. It is especially important to check the condition of the impeller whenever the engine has been out of use for a long time, as dried rubber can crack when it is first started at the beginning of the season. Finding the right spare part number requires checking the exact model and serial number of your engine before ordering, as the Yamaha range covers dozens of different engine generations.

It is a good idea to check the water pump impeller every time you start your engine for the first time at the beginning of the season – make sure that the cooling water is flowing normally out of the engine, as poor or no flow is a clear sign of a worn or damaged impeller. Quicksilver alternatives are often slightly cheaper than genuine Yamaha parts, but are manufactured to the same technical specifications, making them a reliable choice for the budget-conscious boater. When installing the impeller, it is important to pay attention to the direction of rotation and the correct position of the blades, as an incorrectly installed impeller can be damaged immediately on the first start. Always carry a spare impeller with you on longer trips, as it is a quick procedure to replace if the engine starts to overheat during the trip.
