Hempel Hard Racing Antifouling paint
A hard, antifouling paint specifically designed for fast motorboats, racing sailboats and trailer boats. Hard racing paint provides effective protection on the bottom of the boat for the entire season.
Excellent performance
Hempel Hard Racing antifouling can be sanded to a very smooth finish, which improves the boat's hydrodynamic efficiency and allows for the lowest possible friction in the water. Its hard texture makes it particularly suitable for fast boats where a durable and effective antifouling paint is required.
Versatile use
This antifouling paint is suitable for all surfaces except aluminium. It is used below the waterline and can be applied to fibreglass, wood, plywood and steel boats. However, do not use the paint on aluminium boats or other light metals as direct contact may cause corrosion to the boat hull.
Launching and final tone
Hempel Hard Racing Antifouling allows launching as early as 24 hours but no later than 6 months after painting. This gives you flexibility in renovating your boat. The paint reaches its final shade within a week of being in the water, ensuring not only protection but also an aesthetic finish.
Hard antifouling paints
Hard antifouling paints have a high content of insoluble resin on the surface, which makes it hard and not
become brittle. The resin contains active ingredients, and their particles are so close together that as one dissolves, the next is exposed. The hardness and durability of these antifouling products make them ideal for fast
for boats, beached boats and racing sailboats (antifouling paint can be polished before launching
with wet sandpaper).
Antifouling paint painting
Hempel Light Primer -> Hempel Underwater Primer -> Hempel Hard Racing:
Good adhesion/protection, easier maintenance painting, cost savings in the long run, especially suitable when painting the entire system on new boats. Advantages: During seasonal maintenance painting, when/if the antifouling has worn off, a new coat can be painted directly over Hempel's Underwater Primer. When the old paint has been completely removed or the boat has never been painted before,
4x Hempel Light primer coats and
1x Hempel Underwater coat should be applied to the bottom. Light Primer is a 2-component paint that prevents water from entering the boat's hull. This prevents problems such as fiberglass rot. The Underwater paint coat ensures that the antifouling paint adheres to the bottom. 2-K paints become very hard and slippery when they dry, where some paints do not adhere well.
Alternative system:
Hempel Light Primer -> Hempel Hard Racing:
Faster to paint, possibility to spot paint epoxy. Antifouling should be applied while Hempel's Light Primer is still tacky/leathery. Disadvantage: During seasonal maintenance painting, when/if the antifouling has worn off, a new coat of Hempel's Light Primer should be applied to ensure adhesion
