The DF150A and DF175A four-cylinder inline outboards are a great example of how engineers can get the most power out of compact designs, even at the highest revs. The turn of the key unleashes the power of a large engine from a 2867 cc engine block, the largest in its class. The large displacement produces high torque, which in turn enables fast acceleration even under heavy loads.
Although the large displacement contributes to exceptional acceleration, the engine is not correspondingly larger and heavier. Quite the opposite. The excellent power-to-weight ratio makes the DF150 engine ideal for a wide range of boat types.
The engine is equipped with a 32-bit computer that optimizes electronic fuel injection. A multi-stage intake system delivers efficient airflow to the engine at the top of the power curve, which also reduces emissions and fuel consumption.
The DF150ATL is designed to run a large diameter propeller and has a more aggressive gear ratio. The larger propeller and lower gear ratio provide premium acceleration that is especially appreciated by the owner of a fast boat.
High-power chargers keep the electronics in perfect working order. The engine has water-cooled voltage regulators and disconnect switches that allow the use of two batteries, as well as a conveniently located fuse box.
