Hempel Dura-Satin Varnish is a fast drying urethane alkyd varnish that creates a silky, semi-matt sheen on the surface. It is resistant to wear and abrasion within a few hours of application. Excellent resistance to seawater, sunlight and harsh weather conditions.

Can be used on new and previously varnished wood surfaces above the waterline, both indoors and outdoors.

Surface Preparation:
Remove oil, grease and other contaminants with a suitable detergent.
New building:
Unpainted surface: Sand the surface and remove dust.
New wood: Impregnate a dry and clean surface with a suitable wood impregnation agent and let dry.
Plywood: Seal the dry and clean surface with a suitable wood pore varnish.
Teak: Remove grease from the surface with a suitable degreaser.
The surface must be dry and clean before application.
The moisture content must be below 16%.
Maintenance and Repair:
Previously treated surface: Sand, clean and dry the surface.
Previously damaged varnished wood: Wood treatment may be necessary.

Thinner: Hempel's Thinner 811 08111.
Application method and tool: Brush, Paint Pad.
Thinning max. volume 20% brush, Paint Pad.
Film thickness, dry: 25 microns [1.0 mils].

Painting conditions:
Apply only to dry, clean surfaces at least 3°C ??[5°F] above dew point. Avoid condensation.
Light rain, high humidity and/or condensation may affect film formation during and after application: "3-4 hours, 20°C/68°F".
The relative humidity must be below 85% during drying and curing.
Drying and Overpainting:
Touch dry hours 10C 6 hours, 20C 3 hours
Sanding dry at 20C 24 hours
