Cooling System Anode MerCruiser CMD D2.8L–D4.2L

Genuine MerCruiser cooling system anode. The anode is designed to protect the engine cooling system from corrosion and extend the life of the system and engine in demanding marine conditions.

The sacrificial anode is made of a baser metal than the cooling system components, which allows it to corrode first and protect the system. The general recommendation is to replace the anode when about half of the material has worn away.
