Fuel pump for diesel engines

The fuel pump supplies diesel from the tank to the engine and is usually mounted on the side of the engine. Its function is to pump fuel to the injection pump. In many engines, the pump is driven by the camshaft.

It is important that the fuel pump is in good condition and working properly. In case of doubt, it is recommended to replace the pump to avoid malfunctions and possible damage.

The fuel pump is often called a transfer pump. It should not be confused with the injection pump, which distributes fuel to the cylinders.
