WEST SYSTEM 105 Epoxy Resin

WEST SYSTEM 105 Epoxy Resin is the foundation of the WEST SYSTEM family of products and the basis for all epoxy compounds. The resin is clear, light brown and easy to flow, and is excellent for wetting wood fibers, fiberglass and various metals in combination with WEST SYSTEM hardeners.

105 resin can be cured at a wide range of temperatures, resulting in a very strong and tight surface that effectively prevents moisture from penetrating the wood. Epoxy works as an excellent bonding and coating material, and when modified with WEST SYSTEM fillers, it can fill holes and depressions that can later be sanded and shaped.

When applied with a roller, the resin forms a thin, self-leveling film without bubbles. The cured epoxy surface is clear, and when coated with a two-component varnish, it creates a striking natural wood finish.

105 resin has a high flash point, making it safer to use than polyester resins. The product also does not release solvent odors or fumes.

• Pot life (25°C) 10–15 minutes
• Curing time (21 °C) 5–7 hours
• Curing time to maximum strength (21 °C) 5–7 days
• Lowest recommended working temperature 5° C
• Required pumps (Ratio 5:1) 301, 306, 309

Multi-purpose, precipitating additive for bonding, filling and grouting. Can be used to prevent resin from running off on wall and ceiling surfaces and to control the viscosity of epoxy. Often used in combination with other fillers to control the performance of epoxy mixtures, e.g. to thicken leveling compounds. Add 3–8% by weight to the epoxy-hardener mixture.

WEST SYSTEM mini pumps and the correct epoxy mixing ratio

All epoxies are designed to be used with a specific resin to hardener ratio. The correct mixing ratio is crucial to the final strength and durability of the epoxy. Adding hardener will not speed up the curing process, but will reduce the mechanical properties of the cured epoxy.

WEST SYSTEM mini pumps are designed to make it easy to dispense the correct mix ratio and eliminate the risk of measurement errors.

Correct mixing ratio

• Epoxy must always be mixed in the ratio specified by the manufacturer.

• One press of the resin pump is equivalent to one press of the hardener pump

• The mixing ratio is five parts resin and one part hardener by weight.

• Adding too much hardener will reduce the final strength.

Benefits of WEST SYSTEM mini pumps

WEST SYSTEM mini pumps are calibrated to dispense precise amounts of WEST SYSTEM 105 resin and 205 or 206 hardener. The pumps attach directly to the resin and hardener containers, eliminating the need for manual measuring.

• Accurate and easy dosing

• The right mix ratio with every push

• Suitable for continuous use

• Reduces the risk of mixing errors

One full press of either pump dispenses approximately:

• 25 g resin

• 5 g hardener

Compatibility

• Mini pumps are designed for WEST SYSTEM 105 resin and 205 or 206 hardeners

• Make sure the resin, hardener and mini pumps are the same package size

• The package sizes are marked with the letters A, B, C or E.

Available models

• 301A mini pumps for A-tanks

• 301B mini pumps for B-tanks

• 301C mini pumps for C-vessels

WEST SYSTEM mini pumps are a reliable and easy-to-use solution for properly mixing epoxy.

Correct epoxy mixing ratio and WEST SYSTEM mini pumps

All epoxies are designed to be used with a specific resin to hardener ratio. It is very important to follow the manufacturer's recommended mixing ratio to ensure the epoxy achieves its intended strength and durability properties. Adding hardener will not speed up the curing process, but will reduce the final strength of the cured epoxy.

WEST SYSTEM mini pumps are designed and calibrated to always dispense the correct mix ratio. One press of the resin pump equals one press of the hardener pump.

Correct mixing ratio

• Epoxy should always be mixed according to the manufacturer's instructions.

• The mixing ratio by weight is 5 parts resin and 1 part hardener.

• Adding too much hardener will weaken the properties of the epoxy.
