Victron smallBMS Battery Management System

Victron smallBMS is a universal battery management system (BMS) for your Victron Energy Lithium Battery Smart batteries. These batteries are lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries, available in 12.8V or 25.6V voltages and different capacities. The batteries can be connected in series, parallel or series/parallel, allowing you to create a battery bank for a 12V, 24V or 48V system voltage. Up to 20 batteries can be connected to the system, allowing up to 84kWh of energy storage in a 12V system and up to 102kWh in 24V¹ and 48V¹ systems.

Features:
Load Break: Can be used as a remote controlled connection for BatteryProtect, inverter, DC-DC converter or other loads with a remote controlled port. Max. output 1 A, so it can even control a high current relay.
Pre-alarm output: Used to provide a visual or audible warning when the battery voltage has dropped, and is activated with a delay of at least 30 seconds before load shedding is deactivated.
Charge Cutoff: Can be used as a remote controlled switch for a charger such as the Phoenix Smart Charger IP43, Cyrix-Li-Charge relay or BatteryProtect. This output is normally high and flows freely if there is a threat of overvoltage or temperature risk to the battery.
Remote terminal: Both load and charge disconnection can be controlled via the remote terminal. When it is off, both outputs are free flowing.
LED Indicators: SmallBMS has two LED indicators. The blue LED indicates that the charge cut-off output is high and the battery voltage exceeds the set limit. The red LED indicates that the charge cut-off is low due to high/low temperature or battery voltage.

¹ We recommend using as few different batteries in series as possible to keep balancing time short. 24V systems work best with 24V batteries, and 48V systems work best with two 24V batteries in series. Four 12V batteries in series will also work, but will require more balancing time.
