Blakes Cruising 7108C is renowned for its excellent value for money, offering the same performance as many of the more expensive antifouling paints on the market. This hard antifouling paint is designed to prevent growth such as algae and gunk from adhering to the bottom of your boat, improving performance and reducing fuel consumption. Unlike some soft antifouling paints, the hard paint does not require constant movement of the boat to stay clean. This makes it an excellent choice for all types of boats, especially those that spend long periods in port or at anchor.
Blakes Cruising is easy to use and long-lasting, making it the perfect choice for both amateur and experienced boaters. This paint has been specially developed for the demanding conditions of Finnish waters, and will keep your boat's bottom clean and protected throughout the boating season.
Applications and compatibility
Blakes Cruising Anti-Fouling Paint is suitable for fiberglass, wood, plywood and steel boats. It is not recommended for aluminum surfaces and other light metals as direct contact can cause corrosion. This makes it an ideal choice for boats that operate in marine and brackish water areas.
Features that support efficiency
- High-quality primer: Blakes Cruising can be combined with Hempel's Underwater Primer for optimal adhesion and protection.
- Long-lasting protection: Three coats are enough to ensure the boat's bottom stays clean, even at speeds over 20 knots.
- Easy application: Suitable for both brush and roller, and can be thinned with Hempel's Thinner 808 if necessary.
Pre-treatment and application instructions
Before painting, the boat bottom should be thoroughly cleaned with high-pressure fresh water to remove salts, detergent residues and algae growth. If necessary, use Hempel's Underwater Primer to ensure optimal adhesion. Apply Blakes Cruising to a dry and clean surface at a temperature of at least 3?°C above the dew point. The relative humidity should not exceed 85% for proper adhesion and long-lasting durability. Thin with Hempel's Thinner 808 if necessary; avoid over-thinning. Three coats are recommended, especially at speeds over 20 knots. If the boat bottom has not been painted before, 4 coats of 2-component primer ( Light Primer ) and one coat of 1-component primer ( Underwater Primer ) should be applied to the bottom. The 2-component primer prevents water from penetrating the paint surface and prevents problems with the boat hull, such as fiberglass rot. Underwater Primer ensures that the antifouling paint sticks to the bottom, as the surface of the 2-component primer becomes really hard and slippery, where some paints do not stick well.
Storage and durability
Blakes Cruising anti-fouling paint will last up to 60 months in its original unopened packaging. Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight.
By choosing Blakes Cruising 7108C you ensure that your boat's bottom is protected and clean all season long. This high quality primer is a reliable choice for all types of boats, and its ease of use and long lasting protection make it a market leader.
